Marinara Sauce....super easy

We use marinara sauce every week. I used to buy a sauce from Trader Joes but then started making it for two reasons: 1) It is super easy and 2) the sauce is RED, really RED and delicious, just feels fresh.

I use it on pastas and as a pizza sauce. Feel free to double or triple the recipe. This is not a 'canning' recipe so it needs to be stored in the fridge. This recipe will seve a family of 4 plus some left over. If you don't have 'crushed' tomatoes, used diced tomatoes and immersion blend them.

3 cans Crushed Tomatoes, no salt added

1/3 cup Olive oil (5.5Tbsp)

2 Tblsp Oregano

1 Tbsp Thyme

1 tsp garlic powder (3-5 minced garlic.....even better)

2 tsp ground black pepper

2 Tbsp brown sugar

All goes into a pot. Bring to boil slowly......and simmer for 10 minutes or so

Note: the spice measurements are rough.......feel free to go heavy on the spices. .

TIP: When traveling- i'll pre mix the spices and bring the dry spice blend and either buy tomato cans when I get there or even pack them with me.
